Request Books (Shelfmark)
Shelfmark is how you request new eBooks and audiobooks that aren’t in Book Orbit yet — at librarycard.scootr.ca.
Book Orbit now has its own Requests feature too, currently in beta — see requesting something new. Shelfmark isn’t going away yet, so use whichever you prefer.
Signing in
Shelfmark uses Sign in with Plex. Go to librarycard.scootr.ca and sign in with your Plex account.
Requesting a title
- Search for the book by title or author.
- Choose whether you want the eBook, the audiobook, or both.
- Submit the request.
What happens after you request
A fulfilled request doesn’t show up in Book Orbit instantly. It first lands in Book Orbit’s book dock — a holding area where scootR (the admin) manually checks the file and its metadata (cover, title, author, series info) before it’s added to the library. This is normally done within 24–48 hours, since the dock gets checked regularly.
Need something faster? Open a ticket in #support on Discord, or email flix@scootr.ca and it’ll get bumped up.
Requesting something that isn’t found
If a search comes back empty, it usually means the title isn’t in Shelfmark’s catalog sources yet. Try alternate spellings, the author’s full name, or the ISBN. Still nothing? Ask in Discord and we’ll look into it manually.
Going further
Shelfmark doesn’t have a hosted docs site — its GitHub README covers configuration and advanced options.
